Heartstrings

Hey Everyone!

So, I just finished another amazing musical drama called Heartstrings. The drama featured Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa after You're Beautiful again (finally I got to see this pair-up)! I was so excited for this drama, and it was worth the wait. The drama was mainly about Lee Gyu Won and Lee Shin. GW is a traditional music major (gayageum), whereas LS is a modern music major (guitar). The two originally bump into each other at Jeju-do island, but do not really interact too much. After that, GW moves to Seoul with her grandfather, so she can enter university there. One night, she and her friends go to the band "The Stupid", which LS is the lead vocalist. She is immediately mesmerized by their music. After that, LS and GW bump into each other a lot, and argue a lot. During that time, LS was in love with a professor at the school. GW figured it out, but felt pity for him because the professor did not love him back (she loved the director of the play to be produced). Eventually, LS gave up on her, and started to realize how much he liked GW. GW already confessed to him, but at that time he was still getting over the professor. Later, the school play began to be produced, and during that time, GW and LS became closer (even more so when LS moved next door to her). GW was the understudy for the lead actress role, but the lead was jealous of her talent, and so caused many scandals to spread about GW and the director. Eventually, the lead lost her voice due to an ulcer, but GW allowed her to take part in the musical still but with lip-syncing. After that, GW got an opportunity to train abroad and make her own album, but at that time LS got injured from saving GW from a fall, and had to get surgery on his wrist. GW found out about the injury and decided not to go, but LS broke up with her so she would. A year later, LS was still recovering, and playing the guitar again, whereas GW became famous and returned to Korea to take part in the school play again (the director also returned). LS and GW did not interact on good terms because LS tried to avoid GW finding out about the surgery. However, in the end, the director finally told GW, and she had it out with LS. Finally, the end scene involved the two of them going to visit the places they went together, and finding each other again. LS finally returned to the stage, where LS and GW sang with The Stupid. This was a really good drama, and worth the watch. It was light hearted with a few tears here and there. The romance finally made my heart flutter again. It was a good plot with an incredible cast. I give this drama a 5 out 5 stars. Definitely beats You're Beautiful in my opinion. That's it for now.

Baby Faced Beauty

Hey Everyone!

I finished another drama today called Baby Faced Beauty. It was mainly about Lee So Young, who gets fired from her job of 14 years, only to have to pose as her sister (Lee So Jin)'s age (25). At first she didn't want to lie, but everyone just believed her because of her baby face, and she was able to fulfill her dream of working as a designer. Prior to working at The Style, she met Choi Jin Wuk. They caused some trouble at a club and she left JW by himself without taking responsibility. So, when she started work at The Style, he followed her around for the money. Initially the two bickered all the time, until JW started to fall for SY. However, in the meantime, the President fell for her too, yet the girl that liked him is jealous of SY all throughout the drama. In the middle of the drama, everyone finds out about SY being 34 years old (and her real name). By then, she already fell for JW, but gave him up because of the age gap. However, eventually she is called back to the company because of her talent. After that, SY and JW become closer. As well, there were various competitions, where SY won most of them fairly against the other girl. Finally, after a lot of struggles for both her designer talent and her relationship (making his father agree to their relationship), she was able to show off her talents and marry JW. So, in the end, it was a good ending. Although the drama was a bit slow at the beginning, it picked up near the middle. I would give this drama a 4.5 out of 5 stars, mainly because how slow it was at the start. Otherwise, a relatively light hearted drama. Not too many tears were shed. That's it for now.

City Hunter

Hey Everyone!

So, I just finished watching an awesome drama called City Hunter. Apparently, it is originally from a manga by Tsukasa Kojo (didn't know that). Anyways, it was about Lee Yoon Sung (AKA Poo Chai and John Lee), who had grown up with his apparent father, Lee Jin Pyo (AKA Steve Lee). JP was a part of a secret mission in 1983 to go infiltrate North Korea, he was also an agent for the Blue House. He worked there along with his best friend Park Moo Yul. During the mission, 5 men joined aliance and decided for the betterment of Korea to kill off the men on the mission (even though they were promised to return alive). Their own country killed them. The lone survivor was JP because MY had protected him. Soon prior to that incident, MY's wife had a baby, and that baby is YS. After the incident, JP took YS from his mother and raised him in Thailand, while training him for his revenge against the 5 men. In Thailand, YS met Bae Shik Joong (AKA Bae Man Deok), his only Korean friend. SJ had a history himself, but only told YS to someday find a girl, Kim Na Na. After an incident where his only mother figure in Thailand is killed, YS becomes enraged and kills the men, but at the same time he almost died, but JP protected him and injured his leg in the process. At that time, in the brink of death, he told YS about what happened and his revenge. So, YS trained and studied hard and went to MIT in the US to return to Korea someday and get revenge. When he returns to Korea, he started working in the communications department in the Blue House, and from there he gained more knowledge about the 5 men. He decided to take revenge in his own manner, not by killing the men, but rather showing their corruption to the nation. He found each of the men and convicted them by sending them to Kim Young Joo (prosecuter). He then became "City Hunter". One of the men happened to be YJ's father. YJ had always been NN's Daddy Long Legs, because his father caused the accident that killed her mother and put her father in a coma. At that time it was SJ that was put on the spot to lie about who's fault it was. That is why SJ sent YS to protect and take care of NN. At the same time, YS and NN fell for each other, but YS wanted to protect NN, so he tried to stay away for a long time, until she almost died for him (took a bullet for him). Later, JP almost killed SJ however made it seem like it was YJ's father that did it, and so that manipulated him to almost kill YJ's father. But instead, when he tried to save him from falling, he tried to commit suicide to protect his son instead. Finally, after finding 4 out of the 5 men, YS found out that not only is the last man the President, but also his father. It turned out, that all this time, his mother had an affair with him, but married MY. MY was going to raise him as his own, but died, and so JP stole YS from his mother to get the ultimate revenge (son kill his own father). However, YS couldn't do it. When it came time to kill the President, JP pulled the trigger on the President, and YS went in the way. Then, since NN was a Blue House agent, she shot JP. At that time, all the guards entered, and JP confessed to being the "City Hunter", and took all blame for everything he and YS had done. He then died. In the end, YS found his mother (who had cancer, and was finally treated) and ended up finally being with NN. It was a very interesting drama. I really liked how I was always in suspense, and it was thrilling to find out what happened next. Even though the romance was limited, it was a great drama. I give this drama a 5 out of 5 stars. A must see. That's it for now.
